Microsoft Releases Windows 7 Rollup

Mary Jo Foley over at AllaboutMicrosoft.com got the scoop today  on something big for Windows 7 customers.. especially business. Her article (http://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-comes-through-with-rollup-of-updates-and-fixes-for-windows-7/)  has the full story.

This is great news for anyone in business or enterprise that still run Windows 7. Which is the majority of customers. Here we have over 200+ Windows 7 Machines and have no immediate plans to upgrade to Windows 10 (due to a whole slew of business reasons). I myself have been on Windows 10 at home since it was a beta – and I love it!

Right now if you were to install Windows 7 SP1 as a brand new install you would have hundreds of updates and it would take a looooongggg time…. Believe me I have been there. Multiple times. The other thing that Microsoft changed going forward is all non-security updates will be rolled up in to Monthly Updates. This is similar to how Windows 10 does it now. From a system management perspective this is awesome! For home users still on Windows 7 this will mean less individual updates.

This ONE update can be installed directly on a brand new Windows 7 SP1 Install and it will bring you completely up to date as of April 2016 on all updates. ALL updates.

So go on download this update, or better yet slipstream it into your images to create up-to-date Windows 7 machines!
